Ranking Methodology

The ranking takes into account all official matches over the last 5 seasons.
The total score is computed on a weighted scale:
 - Current Season - 100% of score
 - 2 Seasons Ago - 50% of score
 - 3 Seasons Ago - 30% of score
 - 4 Seasons Ago - 20% of score
 - 5 Seasons Ago - 10% of score
The season score is calculated by adding the score based on the league play, domestic cup play, and European competition play.

Score from League Play
A club's league score is determined by the league's strength. The 53 European leagues are weighted on a 0.5-10 score:
- Leagues ranked 1-3 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 10.
- Leagues ranked 4-6 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 9.
- Leagues ranked 7-9 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 8.
- Leagues ranked 10-15 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 7.
- Leagues ranked 16-20 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 6.
- Leagues ranked 21-25 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 5.
- Leagues ranked 26-30 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 4.
- Leagues ranked 31-37 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 3.
- Leagues ranked 38-43 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 2.
- Leagues ranked 44-47 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 1.
- Leagues ranked 48-53 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient have each point won in league play multiplied by 0.5.

All leagues are weighted on a 38 game season, that is if a league plays 30 games, each club's point total will be multiplied to equal the equivalent of a 38 game schedule. (Ex. Bayern Munich gained 91 points in league play in 2012-13 with 34 games played. The ranking will be recalculated so that their point total would be the equivalent of a 38 game season therefore, ((38/34)*91) = 101.71 points)
Example - Bayern Munich won 91 points in league play in 2012-13 with 34 games played. Bayern Munich plays in the German league which is ranked 3rd on the UEFA Country Coefficient, therefore Bayern Munich won 1,071 point from league play in 2012-13 (((38/34)*91)*10))

The top 6 leagues on the official UEFA Country Coefficient will have the 2nd and 3rd Divisions also taken into account:
- The points won by 2nd division teams in league play will be multiplied by 1/3 of the 1st Divisions multiplier, therefore, for example, the points won by teams in England's 2nd Division will be multiplied by (10/3) = 2.3333
- The points won by 3rd division teams in league play will be multiplied by 1/9 of the 1st Divisions multiplier, therefore, for example, the points won by teams in England's 3rd Division will be multiplied by (10/9) = 1.1111
Leagues 7-15 on the official UEFA Country Coefficient will have the 2nd Division taken into account.

Score from Domestic Cup Play
Each country's domestic cups and super cups will be taken into account in the ranking as well.
In leagues 1-6, points won against 2nd and 3rd Division sides will be taken into account.
In leagues 7-15, points won against 2nd Divisions sides will be taken into account.
Points won against 1st Division sides prior to the Quarterfinal stage will be multiplied by (.75).

Points from European Competition
Points gained in the UEFA Champions League will be scored by doubling the multiplier of the league, the opposing team plays in.
(Example in 2012-13 Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League Semifinals, Bayern Munich would have won 60 points from that victory, that is calculated as so, (3 points won * 10 point multiplier (Spain is 2nd ranked league) * 2 (Champions League multiplier) = 60)

Points gained in the UEFA Europa League will be scored as the league coefficient until the Quarterfinal stage, where it will have a 1.5 point multiplier.
(Example Chelsea defeated Basel 2-1 in the UEFA Europa League Semifinals, Chelsea would have won 31.5 points for that victory, that is calculated as so, (3 points won * 7 point multiplier (Switzerland is 14th ranked league) *1.5 (Europa League post quarterfinal multiplier) = 31.5)

Points gained in the UEFA Super Cup will be scored with a multiplier of 1.5.

The total score for a season is calculated by adding the points won from the three categories, League Play, Domestic Cup Play, and European Play
